life goes fast

I've been here in the Gold Coast for already 16 days, so many things happened between the contest, the freesurf around the contest and some other stuff I've been shooting that I didn't have time yet to show anything yet. Tomorrow is my last efficient day here and it seems the conditions should be really good, so I promise that as soon as I come back I post a clip with everything in there: the behind the scene of the contest, some freesurf with Kelly, Jeremy, Maxime and some newcomers, the training with Minotaure, the moskova shooting and the very first episode of "you are what you eat" with Maxime Huscenot. Unfortunately I didn't have time to do everything I've been planning to do so it's good to keep some good ideas for later! If you're under the snow or the rain or the wind or in the middle of a storm, stay positive, this is not the end of the world, not yet... I mean , I hope!

Meeting a Monster

The first contest of the season just finished and what was the highlight of the last week: the average level of surfing? The Jordy-Dane battle? Bede's heat? The new head judge (NOT)? nop you got it all wrong guys, the highlight was about 1,90m high for 109kg and his name was Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira, one of the best and most famous fighter on earth. The story of his presence here was quite funny. He actually was in the first UFC fight in Sydney when he crossed Kelly Slater on a carpark there. KS immediatly recognized him, introduced himself and invited him to the contest. Then he hooked up with Jeremy and the Bevens. He was supposed to stay for few hours, he finally stayed for 2 days enjoying the vibe with the boys. They even had the privilege to train with him couple of times. The guy is really mellow and super cool to hang out with. I will show you the footage of the training very soon.

Last night, like every year, we attented to the ASP banquet in Surfers Paradise. Same old story, the boys get drunk while the girls get dressed to eventually get drunk later. The speachs get longer while the music get louder. Anyway every year it's the occasion to see everybody in the same balroom. This time we were there to celebrate the ASP pro junior world title of Maxime Huscenot, a.k.a "Macabee", or "mini dédé" or "gros panards". No limo nor champagne for us this year (don't forget it's still the recession!!!) but we attented to a super hype after party at the closest 7-11.

Besides that, waves are small, it's raining and crowded in the water.... welcome back to the improved Dream Tour 2010!

La rentrée des classes

The Tour new World Tour 2010 is about to kick off in few days and I just got here, on the australian Goldcoast with the same feeling as a kid who is about to do his first day of the year at school. I went with my mom to the haidresser (for real!), bought myself a new bag and some new pens. I'm happy to see my classmates even some will be missing, but I'm also a bit anxious.... In french we call that "la rentrée des classes".

Promise I send you a clip of what is going ASAP.
